The Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday arrested two overground workers (OGW) belonging to the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the Baramulla district. Identified as Tawseef Ramazan Bhat and Moien Amin Bhat alias Momin, both the accused are residents of Sheeri, Baramulla, police said.
Officials recovered a Chinese pistol with a magazine and 15 bullets from Moien, while a hand grenade was recovered from Tawseef.
The Special Operations Group and the Army had established a joint naka near Shirkwara bus stop, based on specific inputs. The suspects were caught while they were spotted walking from the Wagoora bridge side, police said.
Police said the two tried to escape the site after they saw the security forces. Officials from the alert naka party managed to nab them while they were trying to flee, a police official said.
During interrogation, Moien told the police that he was in touch with foreign terrorist Usman and had treated him when he was injured in an operation. Moein also provided logistical support to Usman and another terrorist, Hilal Ahmed Sheikh, numerous times, the official said.
