Army Goodwill schools Hanzik and Krusan have won the Major Purushottam trophy 2018, an Army spokesman said in a statement.
He said that to create a healthy competition amongst all the Army Goodwill Schools and to recognise and distinguish outstanding performances, a rolling trophy in the memory of Maj Pramod Purushottam, ex Public Relation Officer of the Chinar Corps who made the supreme sacrifice in 1999, during militant attack at Badami Bagh cantonment, was initiated and unveiled by the then Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen Subrata Saha in August 2015. Since last year, the trophy is being presented in two categories – for schools having classes X and above and for schools upto class IX.
Lt Gen AK Bhatt, Chinar Corps Commander, who was the Chief Guest for the occasion, awarded the best schools with the trophy, certificates and books. AGS, Hanzik was adjudged the best school in the Class X and above category while AGS, Krusan bagged the trophy in the category of schools upto Class IX.
