Government forces on Sunday launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) at Hundoora village of Tral township in district Pulwama.
The forces personnel comprising Jammu & Kashmir police, army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off the Hundoora village Sunday afternoon.
Locals said the operation lasted for several hours. “The forces had sealed all the entry and exit points to the villages. Besides, people from many adjoining villages could not move out due to heavy deployment of forces in the area,” they said.
A senior police official said the CASO was launched in the village following inputs about the presence of militants.
It was a “normal practice that concluded peacefully,” he said.
DDC Ramban Shokat Aijaz Bhat told Greater Kashmir that he has passed strict orders for “spraying water along the highway wherever works are being executed in connection with four-laning of the Jammu Srinagar Highway.”
