The non-teaching employees of Government degree colleges have decided to stage peaceful protest on December 20 in Srinagar.
“We appeal non-teaching employees of all degree colleges to make Srinagar chalo successful. College local fund employees, who have been working in colleges for the past 25 years, are suffering badly due to government negligence & apathy to fulfill their demand of regularization,” the statement added.
“Although government has initiated many policy initiatives like SRO 303, 64 and 520 but unfortunately these policies are still on papers and no effective action has been taken for their implementation. Besides the government has constituted various committees which have submitted their recommendations regarding the redressal of grievances of local fund employees,” it said.
“One of the recommendations of these committees was that local fund employees engaged in J&K colleges should be engaged under one time option. However, none of these recommendations have been taken seriously by the government and government also accepted on 9.9.2004 engagement of persons by debit to college local fund in the colleges of J&K divisions vide order No. 111-HE of 2006 dated 17.7.2006/endorsement No. EDU/GEN/44/LF/04,” association’s publicity secretary Kamlesh Parimoo said.
“If any proposal regarding enhancement of retirement age of college teachers to 62 is taken, we will heartily welcome it but our primary demand is that these local fund employees should be regularized as they are suffering for the past 25 years,” he said.
