Dhanteras 2023 Puja Vidhi and Shubh Muhurat: Dhanteras, the first day of the Diwali festival, is a time to celebrate wealth, prosperity, and the blessings of good fortune. This auspicious day is marked by elaborate rituals and prayers to invite the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth, into our lives. We will guide you through the Puja Vidhi (worship method) and provide you with the Shubh Muhurat (auspicious timings) for Dhanteras in 2023 to ensure a year filled with prosperity and abundance.
During Dhanteras celebrations, Hindus pay reverence to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kuber. They also partake in the observance of the Pradosh fast. In addition to acquiring gold and silver jewelry, individuals procure copper, silver, and brass utensils, which they subsequently fill with water or food before crossing the threshold into their homes on Dhanteras. Moreover, they acquire a wide range of items, including equipment, vehicles, phones, laptops, refrigerators, microwaves, brooms, clothes, and various household essentials.
On this auspicious day, the acquisition of metal or clay idols of Lakshmi and Ganesh is considered propitious. In the evening, four clay or flour lamps are illuminated and positioned at the main entrance of the residence. The act of donating lamps holds significant importance in these rituals.
Celebrity Astrologer Parduman Suri advises a simple yet powerful ritual: after the evening puja on Dhanteras, light a mustard oil lamp in the south direction at your main entrance between 5:40 PM and 6 PM. This practice is believed to usher in prosperity.
Dhanteras gains added significance this year due to the presence of Hasta Nakshatra and its occurrence on a Friday, said Suri. “Worshiping Lord Dhanvantari, Mother Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha, Kubera, and Yama during Dhanteras is said to bring about extraordinary advantages,” said Suri.
The Deities and Their Significance
Lord Dhanvantari:
Worshiping Lord Dhanvantari is an ancient tradition that promotes physical well-being, ensuring a disease-free life.
Goddess Lakshmi:
Goddess Lakshmi, the bestower of wealth and prosperity, is sought after for financial abundance and success. Invoking her blessings on Dhanteras is believed to ensure prosperity and luck.

Kubera:
The deity of wealth, Kubera, is honored on Dhanteras for the growth of wealth. Worshiping Kubera is believed to bring financial stability and success in business.
Yama:
On Dhanteras, a lamp with four faces is lit at the entrance gate for Yamaraja, the god of death. This ritual is thought to protect family members from untimely death throughout the year.
