Shalindra Kumar will take over as the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jammu and Kashmir on December 12, (Wednesday) replacing the incumbent Shaleen Kabra, a day after the completion of the ongoing nine-phased panchayat polls in the state.
Shalindra Kumar has been appointed as J&K Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Lok Sabha elections in April-May 2019.
According to a government order no. l722-GAD of 2018, dated, December 8, 2018, Kumar, 1995 batch IAS officer of J&K cadre was earlier nominated for the post by Election Commission of India.
“State government in pursuance of notification number 154/J&K/2018-P Admn, dated December, 7 2018, issued by the Election Commission of India has appointed Shalindra Kumar as Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and Kashmir. Kumar would also be the Principal Secretary to the Government, Election Department,” a GAD order reads.
As per another order number l723-GAD of 2018, dated December 8, 2018 Shaleen Kabra, the incumbent CEO, J&K and Principal Secretary to the Government, Election Department has been recalled and posted as Principal Secretary to the Government, Industries and Commerce department. He will also hold the additional charge of Principal Secretary to the Government, Housing and Urban Development department to look after the work of smart cities and proposed new Jammu and Srinagar metropolitan regional development authorities.
The order further said that Reva Kumari (KAS), secretary to the government, Ladakh affairs department, is transferred and posted as secretary to the government, ARI and training department, relieving Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, IAS, Commissioner Secretary to the government, department of Forest, Ecology and Environment of the additional charge of the post.
Rigzin Samphel, IAS, secretary to the government, Tourism department, shall hold the charge of the post of Administrative Secretary, Ladakh affairs department, in addition to his own duties, till further orders, the order said.
