Mulayam’s presence at the rally will prove to be a major boost for the newly launched party of Shivpal Yadav ahead of the Lok Sabha polls schedule to take place next year.
In August this year, Shivpal Yadav had announced the launch Samajwadi Secular Morcha after a fallout with Akhilesh Yadav. Shivpal Yadav had alleged that he felt neglected in the SP, which was founded by his elder brother Mulayam Singh Yadav, after his nephew took charge. In October, Shivpal announced a new political party Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party Lohia.
Earlier, Shivpal Yadav had said his front will contest all 80 Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 elections.
The Sunday’s rally in Lucknow is being hailed as a major show of strength by Shivpal Yadav who parted ways with the SP, accusing the parent party of neglecting him.
On Saturday, a party spokesperson had said that the rally is aimed at lending a voice to the people suffering from “continued neglect” and “wrong policies” of the central and state governments. “The people are fed up of the politics of hatred, corruption and police atrocities and we will give a voice to them,” he said.
Elaborate arrangements were made for the rally with posters and banners coming up in most parts of the state capital.
