The commuters, travelling from Jammu to Srinagar, are aghast at the administration and traffic police department for frequent “mess and chaos” at Bantalab toll post.
A commuter, wishing anonymity, said, “We have been stuck in Jammu since two days due to the bad weather. Finally, on Wednesday morning, traffic was allowed to ply from Jammu to Srinagar on the highway, but due to unending mess and chaos at Bantalab toll post, hundreds of vehicles remained stranded.” “The toll authorities are adding to the mess by taking a long time in issuing receipts,” another commuter said.
They appealed to the concerned authorities to make toll-free entry for Srinagar-bound vehicles during the harsh weather, in order to facilitate quick clearance of traffic.
