For the unversed, ring pull ups is an alternative form of the typical pull up exercise, using gymnastic rings instead of a traditional bar
Mini Mathur has been extremely particular about her fitness. The TV host and model has been ensuring to strive for balance when it comes to her fitness, diet, and lifestyle. Now, Mini wants to ace her game and challenge her limits with inspiration from none other than filmmaker husband Kabir Khan.
“It’s a bit crushing when I can do this when the husband can…do this,” said Mini talking about doing pull ups on rings while Khan could be seen doing an inversion by hanging upside down on the same rings.
For the unversed, ring pull ups is an alternative form of the typical pull up exercise, using gymnastic rings instead of a traditional bar. “This approach permits a more natural arm rotation, creating a more comfortable experience for the wrists and shoulders during the workout. As with standard pull ups, the ring version also strengthens the upper back muscles (latissimus dorsi), biceps, and forearms, said Varun Rattan, co-founder, The Body Science Academy, Noida.

In addition, it tests an individual’s ability to maintain strict form, which requires higher levels of skill and coordination. “The straps that connect the rings have a tendency to sway. To prevent the body from swinging, one must perform the exercise without using momentum. The exercise necessitates the creation of stability, which forces more engagement of the shoulder stabilising muscles (rotator cuff) and the core,” added Rattan.
The time and effort that goes into perfecting inverted rows like Khan depends on a person’s starting point, said Rattan.

“Those who have been training for resistance exercises for several months tend to pick up the movement control more quickly compared to beginners. The degree of difficulty of this workout can be adjusted by altering the foot position. The closer you are to the floor, the more challenging it becomes. To make the exercise less demanding, one can move a few steps away from the strap’s anchor point, making them more vertical,” said Rattan.
